Situated on the slopes of the Hunua Ranges, the house offers ‘unlimited’ views over the plains and waters of the Manukau. The wing-like shape of the roof responds to the natural environment and mimics the flight of a bird. The house design incorporates many sustainability features such as a conservatory for the collection of the sun’s energy, passive solar design complemented by high insulation and double glazing, solar water heating, renewable materials, natural finishes, rainwater collection and sustainable on-site wastewater management. |
